Where to Watch

Television. James McNeill Whistler and the Case for Beauty was broadcast September 12, 2014 at 9pm ET (check your local listings) on PBS station nationwide, as part of PBS Arts, a programming strand that delivers a wide range of content relating to all areas of the arts.  

Streaming. The full program will be made available via PBS Video for on-demand viewing for a limited time.

DVD. A DVD of James McNeill Whistler is available on ShopPBS. The DVD includes a short video feature on the process of etching.

PBSArts. The PBSArts on-line exhibition space will include exhibitions of Whistler’s work before and during broadcast, including games that demonstrate his pioneering talent.

Whistlerfest! Over 100 museums and galleries in 35 states across the United States own works by James McNeill Whistler.  These institutions, and their holdings, are identified in Visit the Artwork on the website.  The Whistlerfest! public programming initiative will make targeted educational materials available to these institutions and to the general public. Whistlerfest! is a joint effort of local public television stations and Film Odyssey.
